Allen Scott married Ella May Baker on Dec. 24, 1921 in Comanche County,
Texas. This union produced four children: Virginia May Scott; Joseph Allen Scott; Margaret Lillian Scott and Joyce
Ann Scott.
Allen lived in Brown County, Texas during the early years of his life. He met Ella Baker when
her family was in the area picking cotton. The two were eventually married. In approximately 1941-1942, Allen
moved to Groves, Texas with his wife and four children. They stayed with his brother, Coley, and his wife Indy.
Allen worked for B.F. Goodrich refinery and retired from there. He rode a bicycle to work daily (about 6-7 miles each
way) until he had saved enough money to buy the family a car.
Allen and Ella loved to travel and to camp. They owned a travel trailer and enjoyed traveling
to see their children after they were grown and living in various parts of the country. This was a tradition that was
passed down to their children and grandchildren.
Ella was born on July 3, 1903 in Lavaca County, Texas and died at the age of 91 on April 27, 1994
in Groves, Texas. Allen died on Dec. 2, 1994 at the age of 91 in Groves, Texas.
Both Allen and Ella are buried in Yoakum, Texas.
