Robert Coley Scott was born on June 21, 1901 in Brown County Texas.  He married Sarah Indianna Burris, known to us as Indy, on April 21, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas.  Indy was born in Midway, Kansas on October 3, 1900.

Coley worked for Guffy Refinery (which became the Gulf Refinery, a part of Gulf Oil Corporation) starting in the early 1920's.  He was forced out of work during the depression.  The Labor Union got his job back in 1932, but, it cost another man his job.  Coley quietly split his paycheck with the other family for years.  His family knew nothing of this until after his death.  He retired from Gulf Refinery in the 1950's.  They made him an offer he couldn't refuse!

Indy graduated from Mary Belton College with a teaching degree.  She worked in the post office at the college while she was a student there.  She taught school for a very short time (possibly just 1 semester or 1 school year) before she married.

Together they had two children:

Robert Odell Scott

Richard Burris Scott (7/16/29-2/9/1999)

Coley died on August 24, 1992 at the age of 91.  Indy died at the age of 91 on August 8, 1992.  Both are interred in mausoleum at Greenlawn Cemetery, Port Arthur, Texas.
